with their interaction with the audience made them firm favourites. In the tiny village of “Franglais-Sur-Mer” lived the egocentric Gaston, and his sidekick Lefou. I felt Kitti Dixon as Lefou was a little under used: she was more than a good foil for her master. Darran Nash played the villanous Gaston who is hopelessly trying for Belle’s affections. He was disliked by the audience for getting Belle’s father, Jean Pierre (Mark Kendrick) imprisoned and for killing the Beast. Annabelle Whitter, as bookworm Belle, was loved by the kids. Her characterisation captured the fairy-tale heroine. Annabelle’s scenes with the doomed Beast were most tender and convincing. St Joseph’s Players is firmly back keeping up its reputation of delivering family-friendly pantomimes.
