ACT Reviews 2022-2023 Season

CINDERELLA Director - Geoff Millard Choreography - Sarah Whitfield Music supplied by Click Tracks APeel Drama Group This group go all out to give their audiences a pleasurable and memorable experience. From entering the parish hall the meet and greet is so friendly. The auditorium had been repainted and there was a set of blacks creating a corridor for the cast. There were new, very comfortable chairs, the house tabs even look new. On entrance the lighting was down creating atmosphere and gave the audience an impression of entering a theatre not a church hall. This year’s annual pantomime was “Cinderella” with an in-house script, traditional and with a few twists to the story. I can only admire those who can produce a script. I would like to say you have to engage the 6-year-olds in the audience as too many words and you can lose them. Carrying on from the auditorium presentation the stage presentation was equally impressive. The set and cloths, including Cinderella’s coach enhanced the production. Lighting and sound gave that extra dimension to the storytelling. Completing the theatrical imagery was an excellent set of costumes. Everything was constructed painted and sewn by the membership - a credit to all. One again the Whitfield School of Dance supplied a set of young dancers who also took on the ensemble work and supporting roles. All their work was well executed displaying newly learned stage craft. A special mention must go to Eleanie Hanson for her portrayal of Capt. Jack Copper Bottom. The society, known for its presentation of plays with a steady stream of actors, it was time to give junior members the experience of taking leading roles aided by seasoned players.
