no doubt, be taking on the principal roles throughout the next 100 years of the society. Credit to the director, who had the unenviable task of coordinating the 50-strong and one dog cast! Charades theatre costumes supplied a very handsome set of appropriate costumes for the characters, although I’m not sure about the very modern clown costumes and wigs during ‘Who Will Buy’ scene. The Scenery Solutions set worked well on the stage – although I believe there were sightline issues for people sitting in the Circle. (My only gripe was the St Pauls backcloth being used throughout the show. Oliver’s workhouse (in the fictional town of Mudfog) per Dickens is 75 miles north of London and that very central London cloth was used all the way through the show. Props by Geoff Lunn and theatre members were excellent – my particular favourite the ‘Who Will Buy’ series of props. Lovely! Lighting by Dan Thompson was very well thought-out for each scene, although one or two late spotlight shifts were noted. Wigs by Sheryl at the Wig Centre perfectly suited each character – although I am pleased that Nancy decided to dye her own hair, rather than wear a wig which appeared in some promo shots and which I know the cast have dubbed its own character name!
