ACT Reviews 2022-2023 Season

dance school. I was extremely impressed with both the choreography and dancing, in particular the acrobatic dexterity. Scenery was highly effective, created by David ‘Wally’ Walton. I have seen and worked on a few of ‘Wally’s’ sets and he always creates wonderful sets, which have become a thing of popularity. Stage Management, lead by Ken Hardwick and assisted by Tom Whittaker, carried out the scene changes smoothly and without delay, keeping the production flow. Lighting and Sound by Paddy Keane, Lea Royse, Elodie Perrier, and Tom Whittaker for backing tracks and Sound Effects, helped to create the magical feel and captivate the audience watching the show. Props were effortlessly carried out by Maria Williamson, Louise Moore, Gwen and Alan Smith, and David Pilkington – it was good to see these being used to full effect and loved the fun elements such as the wotsits and water gun – even if I did get a little bit soaked! Costumes by Lesley Johnstone, Glenise Kay and Hazel Hodder, and Makeup/Hair by Kayla Holland were all fantastic and brilliant especially Queen Grimelza’s costumes and Blackwing’s transformation into the crow that croaked. The script by Ben Crocker is very well written and was tailored to suit the society in just the right places for Burnley. Songs and music numbers were cleverly constructed together. I liked the use of Reviewing the situation for henchmen when they are dwelling over their evil deeds and Our House for the dwarfs’ – they were all bubbly and lively Overall, this was a very enjoyable production, and I loved every minute of it. It was full of laughter which certainly exercised the chuckle muscles of the entire audience and some of this was from hearing the audience reactions, especially the youngsters when I heard “ewwww” just as the Prince kissed Snow White! Thank you to Burnley Pantomime Society for your hospitality, I had a lovely night!
