their roles. All the support roles also contributed to the evening’s enjoyment. The entertainment and involvement of the audience is the winning element of any pantomime. Everybody’s friend who happens to be in love with Cinderella is Buttons. Charlie Parker, as the Baron’s factotum, poured so much energy into the role. His boyish charm won over the audience. Comedy is so hard to deliver but as the Broker’s Men, Spick and Span, Josie Papworth and Sophie Wilkinson had all the personality and comic timing to win the audience. The Baron was convincingly played Ann Pugh. Her number about married bliss (or not) was very well put over and well received. Mary Cummins, in the role of the heartless Baroness, was as ugly in heart as her daughters. Audiences have a preconceived idea of the Ugly Sisters and Shane Cross, as Desiree, and Martin Bailey as Winonna, did not disappoint. They had a good stage partnership.
