What better way to add colour and fun into our lives than to visit Panto land. In their 89th season EPOPC brought the story of the “Cinder-Girl” to the stage of the prestigious Ellesmere Port Civic Hall. The script for this production included most of the traditional aspects of pantomime. It has to be said a lot of the new scripts are reducing the stories to a “Disneyesque” interpretation where the audience is just a passive participant. The creative team for this production made sure there was lots of singing, dancing and calls for “It’s behind you”. It was obvious there had been a lot of preparation and rehearsal. All the silly jokes, and some gentle adult jokes, entertained the children as well as Mum and Dad. All this was played against a classic set (perhaps a little more glitter would have added to the magic). The cloths were “swiped” in and out. The stage manager, Elaine Devaney and her crew, have to be complimented on their slick scene changes. The costumes and character presentations were good making strong statements. The atmospheric lighting and sound aided and lifted the story telling. Click tracks were used with over playing and percussion to cover the pratfalls and bumps. The company worked tirelessly
